John Henry Johnson

John Henry Johnson, son of Henry Johnson, was born in Poland, Russia, on November 8, 1856. He passed away on February 15, 1942, at the age of 85 years, 3 months and 7 days. He was at the time living with his daughter, Mrs. Amelia Eck near Taloga, Oklahoma.

He was baptized and taken into the Mennonite church 1872 and came to America at the age of 18. He settled in Moundridge, Kansas, and there was united in marriage to Lena Unruh on March 16, 1879. This union was blessed with ten children, three daughters and seven sons.

From Moundridge, Kansas, he moved to Goltry, Oklahoma, where he lived on a farm for many years. In 1913 he came to Taloga, Oklahoma, and there he joined the church and worshipped his Saviour at the Kidron Mennonite church for the remainder of his life. He finally became bedfast for almost three months and stated during this period that he was ready to go and meet his Saviour.

He leaves to mourn one brother, William Johnson of McPherson, Kansas, and his ten children, Abe and Edward of Meno, Okla.; Mrs. Amelia Eck of Taloga, Okla.; Fred of Goltry, Okla.; Philip of Chicago, Ill.; Carl, Frank, Mrs. Mina Pannell, and Mrs. Irene Koehn of Taloga, Okla., and Elmer of Oakland, Calif.

Funeral services were held at the Mennonite church at Goltry. Burial in the Goltry cemetery.
