JOHN B. JOHNSON

John B. Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Jantz, was born on Oct. 29, 1885, at Moundridge, Kansas, and passed away Oct. 12, 1947.

In the year 1896 he with his parents moved to Meno, Okla., and after his marriage, he lived near Goltry. In 1938 he made his home in Goltry, where he lived until his death.

On Dec. 27, 1906, he was united in marriage with Miss Lena Johnson to which union three sons and six daughters were born.

He was baptized in 1905 by Rev. J. J. Ratzlaff, and joined the New Hopedale Mennonite church of Meno. On Nov. 7, 1913, he joined the Zoar Mennonite church.

In May 1943 a definite change took place in his life when he surrendered his all to the Lord. From this time on, by the grace of God, he studied his Bible and witnessed for his Lord to the best of his ability. This resulted in spiritual growth and a deep interest in Christian activity.

He had been in ill health for some time when, during the past summer, he became worse. In September he became bedfast, until finally called to be at home with the Lord at the age of 62 years and 14 days.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife; three sons, Walter and Harry of Goltry, and Henry of Carrier; six daughters, Mrs. Mary Sharepa and Miss Martha Johnson of Enid, Mrs. Mildred Wright of Ringwood, Mrs. Lucille Grodowski in Alaska, Mrs. Mamie Gose of Enid, Mrs. Edna Mae Koehn of Meno; five brothers, Ben and Jake of Meno, Dave of Goltry, Henry of Faloga, and Andrew of Kansas; three sisters, Mrs. Susie Smith of Sublette, Kans., Mrs. Katherine Schultz of Bellings, and Mrs. Elizabeth Unruh of Meno; 13 grandchildren and many other relatives.

His parents, one grandchild, two brothers, Tobias and Joseph, and one sister, Carolina, preceded him in death.
