ALVIN JOHNSON

Alvin Johnson, son of Peter and Susie Johnson, was born Feb. 12, 1917, near Halstead, Kan., and departed this life in St. Catherine's Hospital, Garden City, Kan., on Oct. 13, 1960, reaching the age of 43 years, eight months and one day.

His father died when Alvin was six years old, after which the family moved to Fairview, Okla., where he received his education and grew to manhood.

In his youth God called him to repentance and he responded. Upon true conversion and confession of faith, he was baptized Feb. 15, 1933, by Min. F. H. Wenger, becoming a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite.

Nov. 3, 1940, he was united in marriage to Leah Mae Schmidt with whom he shared joys and sorrows for nearly 20 years. To this union four children were born.

Alvin enjoyed average health, enabling him to be active in daily work. He was a farmer and mechanic. On Sept. 16 he entered the hospital where he remained till death.

He was a good husband and father and will be greatly missed in the home. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife Leah Mae, one son Alvin Lynn; three daughters; Glenda Sue, Mona Lea, and Marsha Ann, all of the home; his mother, Susie Johnson, Fairview, Okla.; one brother, Leonard Johnson of Canada; two sisters, Thelma, Mrs. Elmer Yost of Fairview, Okla., and Salena, Mrs. Ervin Nichols of Scott City, Kan.; and many relatives and friends. His father and grandparents preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at the Copeland church Sunday, Oct. 16, in charge of Min. Orlan Wedel, Min. F. H. Wenger, and Min. John Nightengale. Burial was made in the adjoining church cemetery.
