ABRAHAM T. JOHNSON

Abraham T. Johnson was born Feb. 17, 1887, near Moundridge in McPherson county, Kansas, and died at 8:30 a. m. June 23, 1949, in his home near Isabella, Okla., at the age of 63 years, four months and six days.

In 1897 at the age of 10 years he came with his parents to Oklahoma. They made their home near Isabella, where he as a boy with the rest of the family went thru the hardships of pioneer life, living in a dugout for a number of years.

On March 22, 1912, he was married to Minnie Jantz, with whom he shared joys and sorrows for over 37 years. Ten children were born to them, five boys and five girls.

In the spring of 1916 he was born again and upon confession of faith was baptized and became a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite.

His health began to fail about one year ago. Upon the doctor's advice he went to the hospital in December, 1948, where his blood and strength were built up with blood transfusions and medicine. Dec. 31 an operation was performed, revealing a cancerous condition which apparently could not be relieved by surgery. He regained enough strength after the operation to be up and about for a short while. It soon became apparent, however, that his days were numbered. After setting his spiritual house in order and patiently enduring severe pain and suffering he passed away, leaving the full assurance of entering into eternal rest and peace.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife; three sons, Tobe and John of Isabella, Okla., and Delmar of Needles, Calif.; three daughters, Malvina of Halstead, Kansas, Florence (Mrs. Perry E. Johnson) of Galva, Kansas., Fern (Mrs. Ellis Smith) of Burns, Kansas, and Joyce Ann of the home; his aged father, Tobias Johnson, Isabella, Okla.; three brothers, Isaac of Goltry, Oklahoma, Jake of Isabella, Okla., and John of Shattuck, Okla.; one sister, Amelia (Mrs. Cliff Barnum) of Fairview, Okla.; two sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law and four grandchildren, besides many other relatives and friends. Two sons, ages three and five years, and one infant daughter preceded him to that home above.

Funeral services were held in the Fairview Mennonite church after short services in the home, Saturday forenoon, June 25, 1949. Interment was made in the Cedar cemetery near Fairview. — The Family
