Eva Jeschke
Eva Jeschke of Saskatoon passed away Jan. 29 . She was born Feb. 5, 1896 to Tobias and Helena Schmidt near Avon, SD. The family moved to Waldheim, Sask. in 1901. She grew up on a farm near the North Saskatchewan River. She made her Christian confession during a revival in summer, 1911 and was baptized Aug. 27, 1911, joining Salem Krimmer MB Church, where she remained a member for almost 50 years. She married Ernest A. Jeschke July 3, 1919. A year later they moved to their farm, where they farmed for 43 years. In 1943 they became a deacon couple in the Salem Church, remaining deacons until transferring to Waldheim MB Church about 1959. In 1963 they sold the farm and retired to Waldheim. Ernest died 21 years later. In 1986 she moved to an apartment in Hepburn, Sask. and in 1988 to Central Haven in Saskatoon. She is remembered as one who had a concern for sensitivity, tact and good will in all relationships; as an untiring woman who had an amazing zest and worked hard all her life; and as a faithful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her children Edna Lepp, Anna Schroeder, Helen Dirks, Alfred, Roland , Marlin and Donald; 22 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. The funeral was Feb. 2 in Waldheim MB Church, with John Block and Ralph Gliege ministering.
