MRS. PETER C. JANZEN

Mrs. Susie G. Janzen was born Sept. 5, 1891, at Henderson, Neb. the seventh child of Gerhard and Kathrine Penner Regier. At the age of four years she moved with her parents by covered wagon to Enid, Okla. Here she attended German and elementary school for a few winters.

In her early youth she received Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. She was baptized in May 1900, and she was received into the North Enid Mennonite Brethren Church. In 1907, at the age of 16, she moved with her parents to Escondido, Calif., where they lived for one year, after which they settled in Reedley and became members of the Reedley M.B. Church.

On Aug. 26, 1909, she was married to Peter C. Janzen and moved to a farm near Lehigh, Kan. Here they found Christian fellowship, first in the Lehigh M. B. Church and later in the Springfield KMB Church. In 1962 they united with the Parkview M.B. Church. In the fellowship of believers and in her personal relationship to the Lord Jesus she was faithful until death.

She was the mother of 16 children, three of whom died in infancy. The bringing up of these children under pioneer conditions was no small task. Mother had great will power and exerted it in the home. We experienced hard times, but God gave wisdom and strength according to the need.

In 1966 we moved to Hillsboro, but in God's plan our life together here was to be short. In January of this year she became very ill but recovered. In early summer she developed an ailment in her right foot. On July 26 she submitted to the amputation of her right leg. The operation itself was successful, but complications set in from which she could not recover. On Wednesday morning, Aug. 2, she passed away to that blessed beyond to see her Savior in whom she trusted, and to meet her parents and three children who preceded her in death.

Survivors include father Peter C. Janzen; eight sons, Abe R. Janzen, Aurora, Neb., John R. Buhler, Kan., Peter R., Praire [sic Prairie] du Sac, Wis., Daniel R., Hampton, Neb., Herman R.
