Katie Janzen, daughter of Jacob and Maria Pankratz Janzen, was born Sept. 5, 1894 near Henderson, Neb.

While Katie was still a young girl, her parents moved to Enid, Okla., where she lived until she married. She attended school and grew to womanhood in Oklahoma.

On her confession of faith in Jesus as Saviour and Lord, she was baptized by Rev. H. H. Epp on May 28, 1917 and received into the Bethesda Mennonite Church. She remained a faithful member of this church throughout her life.

On Aug. 12, 1916, she was married to David D. Jansen of this community. They were able to share their lives for more than 52 years. Her husband died a little more than a year ago. After their marriage they lived in the Henderson community where they engaged in a number of business enterprises.

In the past several years, Katie found it necessary to submit to several serious operations as well as to receive extensive treatment for cancer. She suffered a great deal of pain and discomfort during her last illness, when she spent more than three months in the hospital.

Her death came on Saturday, May 30. She reached the age of 75 years, eight months and 25 days.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and one brother. She leaves to mourn one sister, Mary, Mrs. P. C. Friesen; three brothers, Bill Janzen of Peck, Kan., Fred Janzen of Cucamonga, Calif., and Herman Janzen of Sacramento, Calif.; 15 nieces and nephews and many relatives and friends. &#8212; The Family.

MRS. DAVID D. JANZEN

Katie Janzen, daughter of Jacob and Maria Pankratz Janzen, was born Sept. 5, 1894 near Henderson, Neb.
