MARTIN KLAAS JANZEN

Martin Klaas Janzen was born January 16, 1904 in Franztal, southern Russia, and passed away on January 12 at Lethbridge, Alberta after three years of suffering. He spent his early youth in the Crimea, where he accepted the Lord as Saviour in 1922. His family moved to Canada in 1926 and he farmed for several years in the Lethbridge area. In 1936 he was baptized and became a member of the Coaldale Mennonite Brethren Church.

On December 29, 1929 he married Annie Siemens with whom he shared joy and sorrow for 46 years. The couple was blessed with five children.

Mr. Janzen was admitted to the hospital in January, 1973 after suffering a heart attack and stroke. God answered many prayers on his behalf, and he was able to stand in church some time later and thank God for his goodness. A second stroke followed from which he did not recover. God called him home on January 12, 1976.

At the funeral service, held January 16 in the Lakeview Mennonite Brethren Church, Henry Nikkel spoke in German from Job 19:25-27, and pastor Henry Unrau spoke in English from John 11.

He leaves to mourn his wife, Annie; four brothers and two sisters; one son, Robert; four daughters, (Mrs.) Tena Enns, Mrs. Bill Regier, Mrs. Peter Heier, and Mrs. Robert Esser; and 15 grandchildren.
