MRS. MARIA JANZEN

Maria Janzen was born in Alexanderfeld, Sagradofka, Russia on November 28, 1900. She passed on to meet the Lord whom she loved and served on May 9 in Clearbrook, B.C. She trusted Christ for personal salvation at an early age, and was baptized and joined the General Conference Mennonite Church in 1917.

On April 12, 1920 she married Heinrich Janzen. The Janzens moved to Canada in 1926, settling in Niverville and then in Steinbach, Manitoba. During these pioneer years of farming, she found time to instruct all her children in spiritual matters and supported her husband in his service as a deacon in Steinbach. She was always keenly aware of her own commitment to Jesus Christ and spoke often of her faith. In 1947 the family moved to Yarrow, B.C. where they joined the Mennonite Brethren Church. They moved to Vancouver in 1956, joining the Fraserview Church. In 1969 her beloved husband wentto be with the Lord.

With her daughter she moved to Clearbrook in 1975. All her surviving children were able to visit with her and attend to her needs. Several years of declining health led to her peaceful passing on May 9.

She was predeceased by her husband, two sons and one daughter. Left to mourn are five daughters, Louise (Mrs. Alfred) Harder, Helen (Mrs. Peter) Ewert, Mary, Erna (Mrs. David) Siemens, Erika (Mrs. Robert) Martens, all of B.C.; fifteen grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
