CLAIMS LIVES OF THREE CHILDREN, OTHERS IN HOSPITAL

Winkler, Man. — Three young children are dead and six others are confined to Bethel Hospital in a polio epidemic that broke out here two weeks ago.

Alvira Dyck, 4, twin daughter of Mr. and Mrs. I. R. Dyck, died in Children’s hospital, Winnipeg, July 5. Henry Penner, 8, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Penner, Zion, died in Bethel hospital July 8, and Margie Janzen, 9, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Janzen, Greenfarm, died July 12. The severity of the attacks is well illustrated by the case of Margie Janzen. She was well and helping at home on Thursday, taken to hospital on Friday, and passed away Saturday night.
