JAKOB KLAAS JANZEN
Jakob Klaas Janzen of Kelowna, B.C. passed away Dec. 17. He was born Sept. 9, 1908 to Klaas and Elizabeth Janzen in Franztal, Russia. In 1926 the family immigrated to Jansen, Sask. They moved to Alberta in 1932. He married Nettie Willms in 1933, and they settled on a farm at Namaka, Alta. They later farmed near Coaldale, Alta. He accepted the Lord in 1931. In August, 1943 he was baptized and joined Coaldale MB Church. In February, 1950 they moved to Kelowna. They farmed until fall, 1988, when they moved to Willow Terrace. A stroke May 21, 1989 paralyzed his right side and left him unable to speak. In Cottonwoods Extended Care Hospital he learned to get around in a wheelchair and feed himself, but was never able to speak again, although he understood what others said. He was a quiet man, known for his cheerful smile and hearty handshake. He left a lasting impression on his family. He is mourned by his wife; sons Rudy, Albert and David of Kelowna and Jacob of Penticton, B.C.; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers and 1 sister. The funeral was Dec. 20 in Willow Park Church, Kelowna, with Ed Boschman ministering.
