Mrs. Aron Janzen

Funeral services for Mrs. Aron Janzen, who died Friday morning after a comparatively short illness, were held from the M. B. Church here in Mt. Lake, on Tuesday afternoon. Death came a a result of a siege of influenza, which took its toll in only nine days. The case was complicated during the last several days by pneumonia.

The church was filled for the funearl [sic] services Tueday. Rev. N. N. Hiebert, Rev. A. J. Wiebe and Rev. J. J. Balzer spoke.

The deceased was born on September 4, 1857 in Schoenhurst, Russia. later the family's residence was at Nickopol, from where they emigrated to Minnesota in 1875, where they settled near Mountain Lake. She was married in 1878 to Aron Janzen, with whom she lived in holy matrimony for fifty years, five months and six days. Four sons and six daughters were born to the happy union. One daughter died as an infant while Frank A., a missionary in India, died last fall. Mrs. Janzen was deeply afrencted [sic] by the death of her oldest son, and perhaps never recovered entirely from the shock.

She was baptized in 1897, joining the M. B. Church, of which congregation she remained a memebr [sic] until her death. They lived on a farm two miles west of Mountain Lake until 1915, when they moved into their newly constructed residence in the city here. She reached the age of 70 years, 10 months and 2 days.

She leaves to mourn her death her husband, 8 sons and 5 daughters, all of whom were present at the funeral, 38 grand children,3 brothers, one sister and hundreds of friends. — Mt. Lake Observer.
