ANNA JANZEN

Anna Janzen of Medford, Okla. passed away July 1, 1960, in St. Mary's Hospital at Enid, Okla., after an extended illness.

She was born near Inman, Kan., in McPherson County, on Nov. 18, 1884. She was one of 12 children of Heinrich and Katharina Janzen, pioneer Kansas settlers. She spent her early childhood there and attended school until the age of 12, after which she became ill with a bone disease which left her a cripple and in failing health the remainder of her life. However, after the passing of her mother she worked for her living, when able, until the age of 65 years, when she retired.

At the age of 18 she was baptized at Medford by Rev. Peter Balzer of Goessel, Kan. Rev Henry Gaede was the minister here at that time. She leaves to mourn her departure two sisters, Mrs. Maria Regier of Inola, Okla. and Mrs. Eva Janzen of Newton, Kan., four brothers, Cornelius Janzen and Jake Janzen of Medford, Henry Janzen of Buhler, Kan., and Abe Janzen of Enid, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Her kindness and helpfulness to her relatives, friends and neighbors will long be remembered. Her patience during her illness, her love for little children, her never failing cheerfulness and hopefulness, as well as her amazing will to live in order to serve her Lord and Master were an inspiration to all who knew her. Her pleasant personality won her many friends.

Services were held on Monday, July 4, at 10 a.m. at the Medford Mennonite church, with Rev. Albert Unruh of Enid and Rev. G. B. Regier of Inola, officiating. She requested that Rev. 21-4 and favorite hymns be used in the services.

Interment was made at the Medford Mennonite Church cemetery.
