MRS. ANNA JANTZEN

Anna Ensz Jantzen, daughter of Gerhard and Marie Matthies Ensz, was born April 27, 1881 near Samara, Russia. When she was 13 years old her parents with the family came to America, settling at McLain, Kansas and later at Newton.

She was baptized May 29, 1898 by Elder Jacob Toevs and received into the First Mennonite Church of Newton.

She was united in marriage to Cornelius Janzen [sic Jantzen] on Jan. 12, 1905 and they settled on a farm near Plymouth, Neb. With this marriage she accepted into her heart and life her husband's three daughters to whom she became a faithful mother. To this union were born five daughters and one son.

In 1955 our parents were privileged to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary in the presence of an unbroken family circle.

On Jan. 18, 1958 father died after a lingering illness. it was then decided to move mother's little home from the farm into Beatrice where she resided the remaining nine years of her life. This gave her the opportunity to take part in the activities she enjoyed so much — the mission circles and the Ladies Mending Project at the hospital.

After several hospitalizations with bronchial pneumonia she gradually failed in health and strength. She died on Feb. 14 at the age of 85 years, 10 months, 13 days.

She is survived by seven daughters, one son, one sister, two brothers, 24 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.
