MARIE ANNA JANTZEN

Marie Anna Jantzen, daughter of Alexander and Helen Ensz Jantzen, was born on march 10, 1932 near Plymouth, Neb. She attended the grade school and the parochial school there.

In 1902 [sic 1920] she was baptized by Elder Gerhard Penner and became a member of the First Mennonite Church of Beatrice, Neb.

For approximately 10 years Marie worked at the Mennonite Hospital in Beatrice and lived in the boarding apartment in the basement of the old hospital. She had many cherished memories of those years because of the many friends and the fellowship she had with others.

On Oct 1, 1942 Marie married Gustav A. Jantzen. They lived on a farm southeast of Plymouth where they shared life's joys and sorrows for over 33 years. She was a member of the Women's Mission Society. Family and friends knew her as a person who would make herself useful wherever she could. She believed that Godliness with contentment is great gain.

The last several years at home she realized that the time for her departure was near. She entered the hospital on Dec. 26, 1975 and died on Jan. 14, 1976.

She is survived by husband; three brothers, Edward and Herbert Jantzen of Plymouth and Gerhard of Peabody, Kan.; four sisters, Mrs. Frieda Epp, Mrs. Ella Penner and Mrs. Margarete Claassen, all of Beatrice, and Mrs. Bertha Penner of Akron, Pa.; as well as many nieces and nephews and some uncles and one aunt.

Funeral services were held at the First Mennonite Church on Jan.17. — Gustav Jantzen and Family.
