HENRY K. JANTZEN

Henry K. Jantzen was born May 15, 1904, in the home of his parents, Rev. and Mrs. Jacob Jantzen (Helena Klaassen). They lived on a farm southeast of Bessie, Okla.

On Oct. 11, 1931 he was united in marriage to Frieda Froese of Inola, Okla. His father, Rev. Jacob Jantzen, performed the ceremony for them. The Lord blessed their home with two children, Harold and Helen. In 1930 they moved to the farm which was his birthplace.

In 1942 he was in the hospital four times seriously ill, and never fully regained his health. In 1954 he suffered a heart attack after which he had to quit farming and move to Clinton, Ohio. After six months of convalescence he took a job at the T. B. sanitorium. The past five years he has been employed as a hotel night clerk.

On May 16, 1920 he was baptized upon his confession of faith by Rev. Henry Riesen and united with the Herold Mennonite Church near Bessie, Okla. In 1956 he he [sic] transferred his membership together with his wife to the First Mennonite Church in Clinton where he remained a faithful and active member until his death. The church elected him to the board of deacons.

Mr. and Mrs. Jantzen celebrated their silver anniversary on Oct. 11, 1956.

He was punctual and regular in church attendance, loved children, enjoyed music and singing in the Mens chorus. Through his many illnesses, he always maintained a steadfast faith in Christ as Saviour and knew that a place was prepared for him in glory.

He went to be with the Lord on the Lord's Day. The evening before he had happily visited with his sister, neighbors and house guests. He had been feeling better the past few months than he had for a long time.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and four sisters. To mourn his departure he leaves his wife, Frieda; a son, Rev. Harold Jantzen of Kismet, Kan.; a daughter, Mrs. Helen Stehr of Oklahoma City; a son-in-law and a daughter-in-law; three sisters, Mrs. Ed Schmidt, Mrs. Ben Reimer and Mrs. H. H. Horn, all of Cordell; also many relatives and a host of friends.
