HENRY B. JANTZEN

Henry B. Jantzen was born on Aug. 20, 1893, to John and Barbara (Jantzen) Jantzen on a farm near Plymouth, Neb. Most of his life was spent on the farm until 1958 when he made his home in Beatrice.

On June 4, 1910, he was baptized upon the confession of his faith by Elder Gerhard Penner and joined the First Mennonite Church of Beatrice of which he was a member at the time of his death.

He was united in marriage with Margaret Ensz on March 13, 1919. They shared the joys and sorrows of life for 34 years. Five children were born into this home. On Nov. 22, 1953, mother was taken from his side in death. After this his life was often lonesome.

In August of 1953 he suffered a stroke which left him in a weakened condition. Yet he enjoyed limited activities and occasional visits to relatives in other localities. He attended church and Sunday school regularly.

On March 15 of this year he underwent surgery from which he was recovering when he suffered a stroke, and pneumonia set in. Thus, the Lord called him home on April 1 when he had reached the age of 67 years, seven months, 12 days.

Surviving are two sons, Henry E. of Plymouth, and John E. of Mountain Lake, Minn.; two daughters, Emma, at home, and Margaret Grundman of Moundridge, Kan.; one son-in-law and two daughters-in-law; two grandsons; one brother, Peter of Marthasville, Mo.; and three sisters, Mrs. Gerhard Ensz, Miss Elizabeth Jantzen, and Miss Agatha Jantzen, all of Beatrice.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, a daughter, Sarah Ann, his parents, three brothers, and one sister.
