Retired Minister Dies in California

Paso Robles, Calif. — Rev. Frank F. Jantzen, retired General Conference minister, died here Oct. 26.

He was the father of five General Conference missionaries: Lubin and Aron [sic Aaron] Jantzen, in India; Albert, a missionary to the Hopi Indians in Arizona; and John B Jantzen and Mrs. Earl (Ruth) Roth, missionaries to the Congo.

There are two other sons, Richard in California and Oswald in Oregon. Three daughters live in California: Ann Jantzen, Minna Jantzen, and Mrs. David (Mary) Schultz.

Rev. Jantzen was a minister in California until his retirement a number of years ago. The funeral was conducted on Oct. 29. Mrs. Jantzen died several years ago.

— Word has been received here of the death of Rev. F. F. Jantzen, 85, of Paso Robles, Calif. Funeral services were held at Paso Robles on Saturday, Oct. 29, in the Willow Creek Mennonite church Two sons, Lubin and Aaron, are missionaries in India, and another son, Robert, is serving in Oraibi, Ariz. Rev. Jantzen was a brother of H. P. Jantzen and Mrs. G. F. Friesen of Newton.

REV. F. F. JANTZEN

Frank F. Jantzen was born June 16,1875, in South Russia. At the age of two years he came to America with his parents, who settled in Kansas. There he grew to young manhood receiving his education in the Kansas schools in preparation for teaching.

In his youth he received Christ as his Saviour and dedicated his life to the Lord's service.

In 1901 he was called to teach in the Godfrey school west of Paso Robles, Calif. Here he was soon chosen to be assistant pastor of the San Marcos Mennonite church of which he later became the pastor and served for 43 years until 1946.

In 1903 he was united in marriage to Anna Wiebe, with whom he shared the joys and trials of life until her death on Jan. 8, 1939. Ten children were born to the union.

He went to be with the Lord on Oct. 26. He is survived by all of his children, 24 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one brother, Rev. Herman P. Jantzen of Newton, Kansas, two sisters, Mrs. Helena Friesen, also of Newton, and Mrs. Margaretha Claassen of Paso Robles, Calif.; and many relatives and friends.
