JOHN P. JANTZ

John P. Jantz was born May 22, 1889 at Marion, S. D. and died Dec. 11, 1961 in his home at Livingston, Calif., reaching the age of 72 years six months and 18 days. Death was caused by leukemia.

John spent his childhood years in South Dakota. He attended school there for two years. In 1902, at the age of 13, he was injured in a tragic accident which left him blind for life. In 1907 when he was 18, the family moved to Canada. In 1909 he entered a school for the blind in Gary, S. D., and attended there for six terms.

In June 1917 he was converted and became a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite.

On Aug. 30, 1936 he was married to Mary Esau, and they shared the joys and sorrows of life for 19 years. His first wife died in 1955, leaving him very lonely. On April 30, 1961 he was married to Mrs. Helen Friesen.

He leaves to mourn his passing his sorrowing companion; six step-children; three sisters, Mrs. Dave Klassen of British Columbia, Mrs. Walter Unruh of Linden, Alberta, and Mrs. Noah Voth of Winton, Calif.; and six brothers, Tobe, Sam, Pete and Cornelius of Alberta, Canada, Dave and Jake of British Columbia. Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services were conducted Dec. 14, 1961 on the Livingston church. The message was given by Min. Jessie Koehn. Burial was made in the Winton cemetery.
