text of obituary:
Wilhelmina Jantz, nee Franz, daughter of Leonard and Eva Franz, was born near Parker, S. Dakota, march 10, 1885. On the 15th day of September, 1901, she was baptized upon her confession of faith in Jesus Christ and received as a member of the church.
With her parents the family came to the state of Washington in the fall of 1902 settling in the Warden and Tiflis District.
December 26, 1907 she was married to Andrew Jantz. The Lord blessed this union with 6 children, 2 sons and 4 daughters, all living, who with their father could be at the bedside of their mother thruout the days of suffering until the very end. During these days they could be a source of comfort and help.
When the Salem Mennonite church at Ruff was organized December 19, 1910, she became one of the charter members. Later the family located on a farm in the Ritzville district and so they transferred their membership to the church at Menno. Thruout her entire life after affiliating with the church she has been a very faithful and devoted member. She was very faithful in her attendance and served as a Sunday School teacher for many years.
Brief but very painful was her suffering. A small pimple in the face soon revealed that a very deadly germ had entered her system termed the staphylococcus germ. Everything was done on the part of the nurses in the hospital and the physicians to relieve her suffering and if possible to combat the action of this germ. But the Lord had seen it otherwise, and on Saturday afternoon, Aug. 24, at 3:15 very quietly and without a death struggle she left this time for the eternal home.
She leaves to mourn her so sudden and to our mind untimely, passing, her bereaved husband, Andrew Jantz; 2 sons, Leonard of Ruff and Walter at home; 4 daughters, Mary and Martha in training at the Deaconess Hospital in Spokane, Evelyn and Malinda at home; one granddaughter, 6 brothers, 2 sisters, and a host of relatives and friends. She attained an age of 50 years, 5 months, 14 days.
A beautiful and peaceful life has ended for this time to be still more beautiful in the eternal home. this was a life with a very quiet disposition, friendly and cheerful all the time a very busy and hardworking mother of the family always concerned about the welfare of every member. Thruout life the Bible was a constant companion thereby keeping a close union with the Lord. Many a time when others had retired for the day, and though she had been very busy during the day, she still devoted some very quiet moments all alone with the Lord as she studied this book and lying at the side was the S. S. Quarterly in preparation of the Lesson for the coming Sunday. Truly her life may stand out as an example to many. Though she is gone yet she is not forgotten. And though her loved ones mourn they look beyond this time to that wonderful reunion at the Throne of God.
Funeral services were conducted from the Menno Mennonite church Tuesday, August 27, Rev. P. R. Aeschliman of Colfax and Rev. M. J. Galle officiating. Interment in the Mennonite cemetery near the church.
