MERLYN E. JANTZ

Merlyn Eugene Jantz, son of Leon and Ruth Clark Jantz, was born April 17, 1944, at McPherson, Kansas.

He came to bring much joy and gladness into the home of his parents and sister who live on a farm located one mile north and two miles west of Galva, Kansas. Being a healthy and energetic child, he brightened the atmosphere with his playful activity among his friends as well as in the home. Having a pleasant disposition, he readily made friends with children and grown-ups alike.

In infancy he was dedicated to the Lord at a consecration service held in the local church. Recently he became a member of the cradle roll Sunday School class which he eagerly attended. At various occasions when his Sunday School class would present exercises during church services he, with other members of the class would joyfully do his bit in serving the Lord whom he was taught to love by the parents and by the church.

On May 2, 1947, at 9:00 a. m. he met with accidental death as he accompanied his father on a tractor while plowing in a field near the house. He reached the age of three years and fifteen days.

He leaves to mourn his early departure his parents; one sister, Myreta Mae; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. H. M Jantz, and grandmother, Mrs. George Clark (his grandfather Clark preceded him in death); and a host of relatives and friends.

We loved our darling son; it was our desire to spend many happy years together, but the Lord had other plans for him. Somehow we feel that the Lord must have had need of him in His heavenly Home. We have been put to grief, but we are not without hope, for we are assured that our son is safe in the arms of Jesus. "Safe on His gentle beat; there, by his love o'er shaded, sweetly his soul shall rest."

Services were conducted by Rev. Garman H. Wedel on Sunday, May 4, 1947, at 2:00 p.m. from the Emmanuel Mennonite church, Moundridge. Songs sung at the home were "Rock of Ages" and "Abide With me," at the church, "Sometime We'll Understand" and "We Shall Sleep But Not For Ever," and at the grave side, "Asleep In Jesus." Music was by Roy Unruh, Lincoln Unruh Victor Koehn, and Dayton Wedel, accompanied by Miss Evelyn Wedel. His final resting place is the Emmanuel cemetery. — The Family.
