HENRY J. JANTZ

Henry J. Jantz was born Nov. 5, 1856, in Kariswald, Poland, Russia. During the year 1847 [sic 1874], he, with his parents, emigrated to America, and they made their home near Florence, Kansas.

In 1883 he was united in marriage to Anna Becker. To this union were born two sons and one daughter. During this time they lived near Moundridge, Kans., where, in 1892, his dear companion passed to the Great Beyond, leaving him with their children to mourn her early departure.

In 1893 he was united in marriage to Nettie Jantz. They moved to a farm in Marion county, Kansas. From there they moved to Pauls Valley, Okla. To this union was born one daughter. During the year 1913 his second companion passed away.

He then settled near Isabella, Okla., later moving to Ringwood, Okla. During the last few years he made his home with his son Fred, in Enid, Okla.

Father was always very much concerned about his soul's salvation. Believing that he had found forgiveness of his sins through the blood of Jesus, and upon the confession of his faith, he was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, May 5, 1946.

Father’s health had been failing for some time, so on March 12, 1948, he was taken to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Abe Johnson, near Isabella, Okla. On March 20 he suddenly became very ill, and suffered untold agony until death relieved him. He quietly passed away at 5:45 a. m. on Tuesday, March 23, 1948 at the age of 91 years four months and 18 days.

He leaves to mourn his departure one daughter, Mrs. Abe Johnson of Isabella, Okla.; one son, Fred Jantz of Enid, Okla.; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Jantz of Meno, Okla., and Jacob Jantz of Enid, Okla.; also many other relatives and friends. One son, one daughter and eight grandchildren preceded him in death.

We mourn not as those who have no hope. Father left us with the full assurance of eternal life, believing that he has gone to receive his glorious reward.

Funeral services were conducted at the Fairview church March 26, with opening remarks and prayer by Min. Sam Koehn. Min. Dan Smith spoke from Ps. 116:15; Amos 4:12 and Heb. 9:27. Min. Fred Penner made a few remarks and closed with prayer. Min. Dan Smith held short services at the graveside. — The Children.
