HENRY B. JANTZ

Henry B. Jantz, son of Benjamin and Helena Jantz, was born near Philadelphia, Pa. on March 9, 1878 and died August 1, 1948, at his home in Taloga, Okla. at the age of 70 years five months and 23 days.

While still quite young he came to Kansas with his parents, where he grew to manhood; and there also he was baptized by Elder Stucky and became a member of the General Conference Mennonite church, of which he was a member at the time of his death.

On March 24, 1915, he was united in marriage with Elizabeth Koehn, with whom he shared joys and sorrows for over 33 years. Six children were born to them, two girls and four boys.

He was a kind and loving husband and a good father. He made many friends during his lifetime.

Last winter he became ill with the flu and spent seven weeks to bed. He regained his health sufficiently to be up and about and take care of his own chores, but often complaining that he tired so easily. Thursday, July 29, shortly after the noon meal, he became seriously ill, and in spite of all we could do with the doctor's help, he passed quietly away the following Sunday morning after being sick only about two and one-half days.

He leaves his wife; three sons, Olen and Raymond of Stillwater, Okla., and Lawrence of the home; two daughters, Marjorie and Lonesia, of Oklahoma City; one granddaughter, four brothers and three sisters. One son, his parents, three brothers, and one sister preceded him to death.

He tried to live a Christian life, and although we have no direct last word of assurance, we know that he was praying and we commit him into the hands of a just God. We find comfort in the thought that "God doeth all things well" and will take His own unto Himself.

Funeral services were held Aug. 3 in the Baptist church at Taloga. Interment was made in the Cedar cemetery near Fairview, Okla.
