Jansen. — Albertina Jansen, geb. Penner, war geboren den 5. Oktober 1861 in Danzig, Deutschland, und starb am 9. April 1925 bei Jansen, Sask., Canada im Alter von 63 Jahren, 6 Monaten und 4 Tagen. Sie war eine Tochter von Prediger Gerhard und Justina Penner, welche, als sie 5 Jahre alt war, beide innerhalb eines Jahres starben. Ihre Tante, Frau J. H. Zimmerman, nahm sie und ihren Br. William an. Onkel, Tante und Familie zogen im Jahre 1876 von Weslinke, Deutschland, nach Beatrice, Nebr. Am 24. August 1882 verehelichte sie sich mit John Jansen, damals von Beatrice. Diese Ehe wurde mit acht Kindern gesegnet, 5 Knaben und 3 Mädchen, von denen ein Knabe früh starb. Vier Söhne, drei Töchter und eine Anzahl Enkel überleben sie. Im Jahre 1905 zog die Familie von Beatrice, Nebr., nach der Nähe von Jansen, Sask. Sie wurde mit 16 Jahren vom Aeltesten Penner in Beatrice, Nebr., getauft. Das Begräbnis fand in Jansen statt, wobei Br. Henry Bartel von Drake, Sask., deutsch sprach über Jes. 38, 17, und Rev. E. S. Hallman von Guernsey englisch über 1. Kor. 15, 51.

Jansen: — Near Jansen, Saskatchewan, Canada on April 19th A. D., 1925. Albertina (Penner) Janzen, beloved wife of John Jansen. Born at Danzig, Germany, on October 5, 1861, aged 63 years, 6 months and 4 days.

She was a daughter of Reverend Gerhard and Justine Penner, who both died within one year's time, when she was 5 years of age. She and her brother William were adopted by their aunt, Mrs. J. H. Zimmerman, who with her husband and family had moved from Weslinke, Germany, to Beatrice, Nebraska, int he year 1876. On August 24, 1882 she united in holy matrimony with John Jansen, then of Beatrice, Nebraska. To this union was born a family of 8 children, William A. of St. Paul, Minnesota; Helen (Mrs. J. b. Leightner) of Jansen, Saskatchewan; Henry C. of Watson, Saskatchewan; Gertrude (Mrs. A. Symington) of Jansen Sasketchewan [sic Saskatchewan]; Betty (Mrs. G. E. Postier) of Jansen, Saskatchewan; Cornelius P. and Charles O. at home. Peter, an infant of 6 weeks, died in Jefferson county, Nebraska, in a. D.1897. thirteen grandchildren also survive her.

In the year 1905, the family moved from Beatrice, Nebraska to their present home northeast of Jansen, Saskatchewan, where for the last 20 years she lived until her departure.

At the age of 16 she became a member of the Mennonite church, being baptized by Elder Gerhard Penner, at Beatrice, Nebraska.

She lived a Christian life, devoted to her Savior and was greatly concerned in the spiritual welfare of her family. In this her prayers were answered, and he labor of love was not in vain. May the God of all grace comfort the bereaved husband, family and grandchildren, as well as their many relatives and friends, which in their great loss is her eternal gain.

She was laid to rest in the Jansen cemetary [sic]. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Henry Bartel, of Drake, Saskatchewan in German. Text, Isa. 38: 17, and by the Rev. E. S. Hallman of Guernsey, Saskatchewan in English. text, 1st Cor. 15: 51.
