ANNA YOST JAEHDE

Anna Yost Jaehde, daughter of Fred and Lillie Yost, was born at Ransom, Kansas, May 7, 1899, and died April 25, 1946, at Grisell Memorial hospital of a stroke and brain hemorrhage. She had reached the age of 46 years, 11 months and 18 days.

In 1904 she moved with her parents to Modac [sic Modoc], Kansas, where they resided until 1919 when they moved back to Ransom.

She attended public school in Modoc and high school in Scott City. After graduation she taught a term of school near Shallow Water, Kansas. She also taught several terms in Ness and Trego counties.

She was baptized in Modoc and later joined the Mennonite church in Ransom, where she remained a devoted member until her death.

On June 7, 1927, she was united in marriage to Ernest Jaehde and they have made their home on their farm near Ransom ever since. This husband and wife were constant companions in church, at work and at play, and their home was blessed with happiness.

Always faithful in attendance at all services of her church, she acted as president of the Christian Endeavor and Sunday School teacher, and was active in the missionary society and in any other capacity where she could serve. She was always ready to do her part for any good cause and was appreciated for her willing helpfulness in the community.

She was preceded in death by her father and her brother, John.

She is survived by her husband, her mother, Mrs. Lille Yost; five brothers, Fred, Ulrich, Charles, William and Albert; and one sister, Mrs. Jennie Rufenacht.

The funeral was held from the Methodist church, Sunday afternoon, April 28, Rev. Samuel Paulding conducting the services. A mixed octet sang,e "Safe in the Arms of Jesus," "Asleep in Jesus," and "Jesus Saviour Pilot Me." Pallbearers were six nephews, Carl and Walter Klitzke, Lee and Will Jarvis, Will Jaehde Jr. and Howard mast. Burial was in the Ransom cemetery.
