CORNELIUS A. ISAAK

Cornelius A. Isaak, 86, late of the Menno Hospital at Abbotsford, B.C. passed away January 3 after a lengthy illness. His home was formerly at Clearbrook.

He was born in the Crimea in South Russia, lived in Neu Samara for about 15 years, and then with his wife Cornelia (nee Kliewer) and son Abe moved to a newly opened area of Siberia in 1908 to help pioneer the village of Gnadenheim. From there the family moved to the Kuban region in 1922 and finally emigrated to Canada 1n 1924.

In his new homeland he lived at Drake, Sask., for a year and then at Zenata, Sask., for three. From there he moved, to Yarrow, B.C., where, he lived for 13 years, and finally to Clearbrook, where he spent the rest of his life. He accepted Christ as his personal Saviour while in Siberia and was baptised and accepted into the local church upon his confession of faith.

His first wife predeceased him in 1952 and in 1954 he married Mrs. Elizabeth Thiessen, who survives him. He is also survived by three sons, Abe of Abbotsford, B.C., Henry of Kelowna, B.C., and Corney of North Surrey, B.C.; and seven daughters, Mrs. F. (Nellie) Kelln of Clearbrook, Mrs. Jake (Anne) Bergen of Terrace, B.C., Mrs. P. (Betty) Dyck of North Surrey, Mrs. Fred (Helen) Kuehn of Mission, B.C., Mrs. R.(Gertrude) Pringle of Campbell River, B.C., Margaret of Port Coquitlam, B.C., and Mrs. Frank (Kay) Derksen of Terrace. One son and one daughter died in infancy.
