text of obituary:
PETER F. ISAAC
Peter F. Isaac, our beloved father and husband, was born on April l24, 1881, at Jansen, Neb. and passed away to be with the Lord on Dec. 27, 1956, at 11:20 P.M., having reached the age of 75 years, eight months, and three days,
In his youth he accepted the Lord as his Saviour and was baptized upon his confession of faith on June 2, 1901, and received into the Mennonite Church.
On June 12, 1904,he was united in marriage to our mother, Kathie Cornelsen, with whom he shared joys and sorrows for 52 years. Two years after their marriage they moved to Meade county and spent 49 years on their farm southeast of Meade. They made their home in the city of Meade during the last year. On June 13, 1954, it was their privilege to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary, when the family and friends unitedly praised God for His wonderful grace during the past years of married life.
In 1944, our father and husband became seriously ill but recovered after a while. Somewhat more than a year ago failing health became very noticeable. Several months later he broke his arm which failed to heal properly. A subsequent pathological bone fracture resulted and he was hospitalized in Dodge City where the doctors diagnosed his illness to be cancer. Although the improved somewhat and could come home, he suffered much pain in his arm and shoulder, until on June 21 of this year it was found advisable to have his arm amputated in the Meade hospital. During the last months his condition was chaneable [sic] so that he could even attend the church services off and on, the last time being on Sunday evening, Dec. 16. His condition took a turn for the worse that night with severe headache and difficult breathing. He failed rapidly, until he quietly breathed his last on Thursday, Dec. 27, at 11:20 P.M.
During his time of illness he repeatedly expressed his concern and prayed that he might have patience in suffering. The Lord answered his prayer. Real victories were won with the Lord's help. His prayers, expressions, and answers to questions asked, clearly revealed his readiness and desire to go to be with the Lord. Psalm 23:1 and other Bible verses continued to be a comfort to him, and the German song, "Jesu geh voran," as a favorite, expressed his inward desire to follow the Lord all the way.
He is preceded in death by two brothers and one sister; four children, Henry in 1933 at the age of 17, Abe in 1937 at the age of 28, and two who died in infancy; and four grandchildren.
He leaves to mourn his departure: His wife Kathie, and his children, Katherine (Mrs. P. L. Classen), Pete and Corny of Meade, Jake of Reedley, Calif., John, Anna (Mrs. Cornie Z. Friesen) of Meade, Lena and Margaret of the home; two sons-in-law, five daughters-in-law, including Mrs. A. K. Isaac of Kleefeld, Manitoba; 41 grandchildren of whom five are step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; three brothers and one sister, Jacob of Meade, John of Dinuba, Calif., Henry of Meade and Margaret (Mrs. J. F. Friesen) of Jansen, Neb.
We mourn not as those who have no hope, but rather as those who look forward to the blessed time when we shall see our loved one in the very presence of jesus wherewe shall part no more. — The Bereaved P. F. Isaac family.
