— Word has been received by relatives here of the death of Mrs. Nettie Isaac, nee Epp, who died on Thursday, March 8, at Glendale, Calif. She was the widow of G. G. Isaac former photographer and piano tuner at Moundridge, and leaves a daughter, Miss Hulda Isaac, and a son Ervin, a radio technician.

NETTIE ISAAC

Nettie Isaac was born Nov. 30, 1877, in the village of Blumenort, So. Russia and passed away March 8, 1951, at the Glendale Sanitarium and Hospital, Glendale, California. She had been afflicted with high blood pressure for some years and on Feb. 27 suffered a severe heart attack as the result of which she quietly fell asleep nine days later.

At the age of one year her parents, John and Susanna Epp, came to this country settling in Marion county, Kansas, where her mother passed away two weeks later.

May 1, 1894, she was united in marriage to Gerhard G. Isaac, traveling life’s way together until Jan. 23, 1937, when her beloved husband was called to his Eternal Home. To this union were born a daughter, Hulda, and a son, Ervin.

Opon [sic] confession of faith she was baptized by Rev. Wm. Galle at the West Zion Mennonite church, Moundridge, Kansas, in 1898.

Southern California was her home for 45 years, of which 12 were spent at Upland and the remaining in Glendale. She was a charter member of the First Mennonite church of Upland, taking an active part in church affairs during her sojourn there. She retained her membership in this church after moving to Glendale in 1918.

Surviving her are the daughter, Hulda S. Isaac of Glendale and the son, Ervin Gary of Temple City, Calif., also a sister, Mrs. Maria Gaede of Shafter, Calif.

Funeral services were held on March 12 in the Little Church of the Flowers, Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale, with Rev. D. D. Eitzen of Los Angeles officiating. He used as the basis of his discourse two of her favorite scripture passages, Psalms 23 and 121, which he so fittingly wound around her life. the music consisted of baritone solos, “Rock of Ages” and “Nearer My God to Thee” and much loved “Gesang Buch” songs on the organ. Interment was in Forest Lawn Park where she rests beside her beloved husband.

Hers was a devout Christian life – one of unusual courage, great humility, and boundless love for her fellow man. She had an unwaivering [sic] faith in the promises of her Lord and Redeemer. Her memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her.
