KATHERINE ISAAC

(Mrs.) Katherine Isaac of 275 Donalda Ave., Winnipeg, passed away September 13, nearly five weeks after suffering severe burns in an accident at home. She was born in Olgafeld, South Russia on March 21, 1902, the fifth of 12 children of Jacob and Helena Niebuhr. Through the influence of godly parents she came to a knowledge of Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord and in time she was baptized and entered into the fellowship of the Mennonite Brethren Church in Olgafeld.

In 1921 she married Peter Lepp. A son, Peter, was born to them, but at 11 months her child died in the typhoid epidemic. Two months later her grief was increased when her husband also died of the same disease. They had been married two years.

In 1926 she came to Canada, to Winnipeg, and for a number of years worked in various homes as a domestic. In 1932 she married Henry Isaac. Two sons, Ernest and Arthur, were born to them. The family lived in the north end for a number of years and in 1946 moved to East Kildonan. In 1961 her husband passed away and for the remaining years of her life she lived alone.

She was called home to be with the Lord on September 13 after great suffering. The funeral was held on September 16, in the Elmwood (Winnipeg) Church with William Schmidt and John B. Epp speaking messages of encouragement and comfort.

She is mourned by two sons, Ernest, and his wife Esther, and their three daughters, and Arthur, his wife Gretta, and their two sons; five sisters, (Mrs.) Helena Doerksen, Herbert Sask.. (Mrs.) Margaret Dyck, (Mrs.) Maria Redekopp, and (Mrs.) Elizabeth Klassen, all of Virgil, Ont., and (Mrs.) Anna Klassen of Russia; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and friends and neighbours.
