JOHN ABRAHAM ISAAC

John Abraham Isaac of Saskatoon passed away on July 2 at the Geriatric Centre, North Battleford.

He was born on February 18, 1879 at Nikopol, South Russia. At the age of nine he moved to Fuerstenland, where he attended school and three years later was employed in a factory. He accepted the Lord as personal Saviour at 14, was baptized and accepted into the Mennonite Brethren Church. On November 10, 1902 he was married to Helena Wieler. In 1907 the family emigrated to Rosthern, Saskatchewan, and the following year they took up a homestead at nearby Aberdeen. After 16 years they then moved to Dalmeny, Sask., and then to Hepburn to retire. In 1952 the Isaacs moved back to Dalmeny where they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

When Mrs. Isaac passed away in 1955 he spent two years in the Senior Citizens' Home in Dalmeny, then eight years with his daughter Elizabeth in Saskatoon. The last while he needed medical treatment which he received in the Geriatric Centre in North Battleford. Funeral services were held on July 7 at the Dalmeny Church with Rev. H. A. Willems of Hepburn and Ernest Lepp of Dalmeny officiating.

Left to mourn his passing are his children, Mr. and Mrs. John Isaac of Virgil, Ontario. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Fast (Helena) of Wetaskiwin, Alberta, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Penz (Marie) of Hepburn, Mr. and Mrs. Barney Neufeld (Elizabeth) of Saskatoon; 11 grandchildren; and 31 great grandchildren.
