AUTO ACCIDENT FATAL TO 17 YEAR OLD YOUTH AT HENDERSON, NEBR.

Henderson, Nebr., October 8. — A fatal accident caused the death of Lester Huebert, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Huebert here last week. The tragedy happened on October 3, on the north end of Main street. Lester died in the York General hospital, shortly after 12 o'clock noon the next day.

Four other boys were injured seriously when the car in which they were driving swerved into the ditch and struck a telephone pole at about 10 o'clock P. M. One of the boys suffered a fractured hip, another a lacerated elbow. These two and Lester were brought to the hospital the same night. The other two boys required no hospitalization.

Lester was born near Henderson on January 7, 1928. Surviving are his parents, three brothers, all at home, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Huebert.

All the boys were students at Henderson high school, where Lester was a member of the senior class. The date of the funeral services has not yet been announced.

LESTER HUEBERT

Lester Huebert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry H. Huebert, was born on January 7, 1928, in the vicinity of Henderson, Nebr. He spent his childhood days at home, and at the age of six years entered grade school, finishing the eight grade. In August 1942, he entered high school and this year was a senior. He was a good student and loved to read. He athletics he was prominent and loved fair play [word order in original].

He attended Sunday School faithfully. He was one of the secretaries for was popular with fellow students a year. [word order in original] At the C. E. he served as usher, and could be depended upon doing his duty. In the home he was diligent and somewhat of a quiet nature. He was one of the family doing his daily assigned duties diligently and conscientiously.

Wednesday evening, October 3, at 10:00 o'clock some of his schoolmates offered to take him home from town. On the way home they met with a car accident, which rendered him unconscious. Medical help arrived about an hour later. The doctor ordered that he should be taken to the hospital, where upon thorough examination, a fractured skull was found. He lingered on till 12 o'clock noon the next day, when his youthful life fled from him to be with the Lord, the giver of life.

He leaves to mourn his death, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry H. Huebert; three brothers, Leo, Milton, and Johnny; five sisters, Darlene, Jennie, Twila, Patricia and Emilene; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John J. Huebert, and many relatives and friends. One brother, Harvey preceded him in death in infancy, and one sister, Adeline, at the age of 13. He attained an age of 17 years, 8 months and 27 days.

The Bereaved Family

The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, October 7, at 1:30 in the Bethesda church. The spacious church was filled to overflowing.

The services were in charge of Rev. A. W. Friesen who was assisted by Rev. H. B. Kliewer, the principal of the high school. Both spoke consoling and impressive words to the bereaved family and to the whole community.

A male quartet sang a few appropriate songs.

Over 1,400 people passed by the casket to view the body.

Interment was made in Bethesda cemetery northeast of town. The committal services at the grave were in charge of Re.v A. W. Friesen.
