MRS. MARTHA HOSTETLER

Martha Elizabeth (Bare) Hostetler was born Sept. 18, 1885 at Marion, Kan.; died Dec. 5, 1965 at the Albany Mennonite Home for the Aged, Albany, Ore., at 80 years of age.

At age 11 she moved with her parents from Marion, Kan. to Oronogo, Mo., a distance of 200 miles and a nine-day journey by wagon train. She spent her early years working as a licensed practical nurse in private homes.

In 1913 she was united in marriage to Monroe Hostetler at Harper, Kan. She leaves two children, Mrs. Lloyd (Ferne) Driver, Hubbard, Ore., and Paul Hostetler, Milwaukie, Ore.; two sisters, Nannie Weaver of Missouri and Kate Underwood of California; one brother, Joe Bare, Kansas; nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, who dearly loved and enjoyed just being with grandma. She would always remember each grandchild with a birthday card and letter.

She spent her last years working faithfully with her sewing machine, piecing comforter tops and knitting bandages for us in foreign countries. To her idle hands were the devil's workshop. Her faith in Christ was a blessed source of strength and comfort to her, radiating out to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones, but our loss is her gain in knowing she is with her Lord where she longed to be.

Services were conducted at the Zion Church, Hubbard, Ore., on Dec. 9, 1965 by Claud Hostetler and John Lederach. Burial was made in the Zion cemetery.
