NANCY PEARL HOSTETLER
Nancy Pearl (Kropf) Hostetler, was born to John and Charity (King) Kropf near Hubbard, Oregon on Jan. 13, 1890, and passed away peacefully near Aurora, Oregon on Dec. 19, 1958, aged 68 years, 11 months, six days.
On Oct. 9, 1910, she was united in marriage to Simon G. Hostetler near Hubbard, Oregon. To this union were born four sons, three of whom preceded her in death: Walter, aged seven months, Elton Maurice, 12 years, and Harley Hilbert, 33 years.
Her father passed away in 1912 at the age of 61years, her mother in 1940 at the age of 84 years, one sister in infancy, her elder sister, Emma, mother of the two surviving step-daughters, in 1909 at the age of 28 years. Three granddaughters, Arlene and Margaret Kauffman, and Roxanne Hostetler also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, Simon G. Hostetler; the eldest son, Leslie C. Hostetler; two step-daughters, E. Ferne Kauffman and Nettie P. Hostetler, all of Aurora, Oregon, nine grandchildren and two great-grandsons; four brothers and two sisters; Lydia M. Sharp, Harvey and Chauncey, all of Hubbard, Clarence of Woodburn, Roy of Corvallis, and Rachel Mrs. Aaron Esch of Milwaukee, Oregon, and a large number of nephews and nieces.
Pearl united with the Zion Mennonite Church in her youth, and was a faithful member until her passing. She was a faithful and loving wife and mother.
She has been an invalid since the summer of 1920, bearing her affliction with remarkable Christian patience.
Her mind was clear to the end, and even long after she could not speak, when asked for advice, gave unfailing and sound counsel. For many years, as long as she could read, she read the entire Bible every year, as well as much other reading matter.
Her presence will be sorely missed by her family and friends. The family is grateful to the many relatives and friends who have assisted in so many ways during these 38 years. May God bless you all, is our wish and prayer. — Husband and Family.
