text of obituary:
ELEANOR LOIS HOSTETLER
Eleanor Lois Hostetler, only daughter of Chancy H. and Alta Zimmerman Hostetler, was born June 23, 1940, at Harper, Kan. She departed this life on August 22, 1960 at Joslin Hospital, Harper, after 176 days of unconscious illness following cardiac arrest.
Eleanor attended Pleasant Valley grade school and was a student at Harper High School three years. She attended her senior year at Hesston College and graduated with the class of 1958.
At an early age Eleanor received Christ as her Savior and became a member of the Pleasant Valley Mennonite Church.
Being interest in the nursing profession from early childhood, she enrolled as a student nurse at Kansas City General Hospital School of Nursing, taking one year of college pre-nursing at Hesston College. It was as a student nurse that Eleanor forgot herself in serving the physical needs of others, keenly aware of their spiritual needs as well.
Eleanor loved her home and often expressed appreciation upon arrival at vacation time. So we rejoice, though through tears, at her early arrival in the Heavenly home, remembering the request of Jesus when he prayed, ”Father, I will that they also whom thou hast given me be with me where I am that they may behold my glory.”
Her survivors include the parents, two brothers, Dalton and Clifton, one sister-in-law, Donnabel. One infant brother preceded her in death. She is also survived by a large group of close relatives and friends.
Services were held Aug. 24 at Pleasant Valley Mennonite Church with James Detweiler in charge, using the theme “Being found in Him.” Phil 3:9.
