Instantly Killed In Highway Accident
ICE ON HIGHWAY CAUSE OF CRASH KILLING C. A. HOSTETLER, ORRVILLE, O.
Orrville, Ohio. — Christian A. Hostetler, 54, well known painting contractor and farmer, was instantly killed Dec. 2, in a collision on Highway 5 when another car skidded on the icy pavement into the path of his machine.
Both cars were practically demolished, but the other driver is recovering.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 5, at the Oak Grove Mennonite church near Smithville, Rev. Virgil Gerig officiating.
Mr. Hostetler was associated with his brother Paul in the painting business and also operated a small farm near Smithville. He was en route to Barberton to visit his son Clair and family when the fatal accident cut short his trip.
Surviving are the son and one daughter, Maryann, a student at Goshen College, six brothers and two sisters. Mr. Hostetler’s wife, the former Elma Yoder, was killed in a collision on the Smithville-Orrville road just 18 years ago, Dec. 6, 1936.
