AMANDA D. HOSTETLER
Amanda D. (Kurtz, Byler) Hostetler, daughter of Jonathan Y. and Mary (Yoder) Kurtz, was born Sept. 1, 1897, at Belleville, P., died Sept. 2, 1966 at Sterling, Ill., from complications of heart disease.
On Nov. 30, 1916, she was married to John Y. Byler at Belleville. He died on Sept. 21, 1944. To this union were born seven sons and one daughter. Five sons and one daughter survive: Willie of Belleville, Edna (Mrs. Jesse Zook) of Austin, Ind., Jonathan of Belleville, Pollard of Colorado Springs, Colo., Irvin of Mifflintown, Pa., and Martin of Hutchinson, Kan.
On Nov. 9, 1958, she was married to John L. Hostetler of Prophetstown, Ill.
She accepted Christ in her youth and at the time of her death was a faithful member of the Fairfield Amish Mennonite Church near Tampico, Ill.
She is survived by her husband, five sons, one daughter; two stepsons, Levi of Prophetstown, Ill. and Roy of Winston, Ore.; three step-daughters, Carrie (Mrs. Dave Eash) of Shelbyville, Ill., Ella Mae (Mrs. Warren Long) of Prophetstown, Ill., and Elsie (Mrs. Roy J. Headings) of Muscoda, Wisc.; 23 grandchildren, 21 step-grandchildren, and nine step-great-grand-children; also one brother John E. Kurtz of Mt. Crawford, Va.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, two sons, harvey and Leroy, three sisters, two brothers, one granddaughter and one step-grandson.
The body was taken to Belleville, Pa. where services and burial were held at the Locust Grove Mennonite Church.
