Bishop of Maryland Congregation Dies

Maugansville, Md. — Moses K. Horst, well-known bishop of the Washington County, Md. and Franklin County, Pa. (Old) Mennonite Conference, died recently at the age of 83.

Bishop Horst was the leader of nine congregations in Washington County and had served as moderator of the conference. During his long ministry he baptized 653 persons, officiated at 13 ordinations, and preached more than 1,500 sermons.

Funeral services were held at the Reiff Mennonite Church on April 7.
