20-Year-Old Youth Fatally Hurt in Fall From Barn

Ephrata, Pa. — Head injuries suffered in a 30-foot fall from a barn proved fatal to Melvin Z. Hoover, 20, of rural Stevens.

He was helping friends dismantle a barn in the Country Gardens apartment complex at Leola when he plunged to the ground. He died that evening at Lancaster General Hospital.

The young man, son of Mr. and Mrs. David W. Hoover, was associated with his father in farming. He was a member of the Reidenbach's Mennonite Church, where the funeral was conducted on Sept. 2. Besides the parents, 14 brothers and sisters survive.
