ENOS MELVIN HOOLEY

Enos Melvin Hooley died suddenly June 23 at the age of 66 years and four months as the result of a heart attack.

He is survived by his wife Mary of Portland, Ore., five children, Mrs. Mary Harris of Eugene, Ore., George Hooley, Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Frances Bemmers, Beaverton, Ore., Mrs. Grace Burke, Washington, Pa., and Mrs. Sara Dodd, Halsey, Ore.; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Alvin Hooley, Hubbard, Ore.; three sisters, Mrs. Ada Miller of Scio, Ore., Mrs. Lavina Mast, Atglenn, Pa., and Mrs. Iva Kaufman, Goshen, Ind., and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by two children, Esther Elizabeth and Viletta Ruth; one great-grandchild, Vicky Ann Reynolds; his mother and father; a brother Edwin, and sisters Leona, Adelia, and Nellie.

He was one of a family of nine children born to Menno and Fannie Hooley. He was born at Eight Mile, Mo. on Feb. 24, 1895. The family moved to Oregon when he was a child.

He was converted at an early age, and has been a faithful member of the Mennonite church.

He married Mary Chambers of Chicago, Ill. on Dec. 12, 1917. They were married 43 years and six months.

The keynote of his life was always loving concern for others. He was an active soul winner and church worker. The last work that he did was helping at the rescue mission in Portland, until health did not permit.

He was a loving husband and father. Many will remember his kind deeds and thoughtfulness. His prayers for others will especially be missed.
