When a young man he was baptized and became a member of the Mennonite church, and at the time of his death was a member of the Bethlehem Mennonite church here. He was born in Russia February 5, 1868. In and previous to his recent illness he expressed his desire to be with the Lord and a smile of God's approval was upon his face as he left this life.
For nearly 40 years he had been without his eyesight, but his testimony is that he was not blind spiritually.
He had been suffering for several months from blood poisoning and other complications, which led to a stroke which hastened his death.
