Holzrichter, Barbara Konrad (1846-1930)
Mennonite Weekly Review obituary: 1930 Jul 2 p. 4
Birth date: 1846 Jan 20
text of obituary:
Barbara Konrad was born in Bluemnort, South Russia, January 20, 1846, and die in Burrton, Kansas, June 16, 1930, at 9 P. M. She reached the old age of 84 years, 4 months and 26 days.
She was united in marriage to Henry Holzrichter, November 20, 1871, at Kleefeld, South Russia. To this union were born 10 children, three of whom died in infancy. Her husband died in 1887 the 26 of September. They lived in holy marriage 16 years, 9 months and 26 days.
She, with her husband and seven children, immigrated to America June 12, 1885, and settled in this part of Kansas. Later she, with her daughter Katie, moved to Burrton where they have resided for the past 22 years.
At the age of 18 years she gave her heart to her Lord and Saviour and joined the Orloffer church of South Russia. After moving to Burrton she placed her membership in the Burrton Mennonite Church of which she remained a true and faithful member until her Lord called her to her heavenly home.
Her husband, three children, three grandchildren, one great grandchild and a daughter-in-law, Margaret Holzrichter, have all preceded her into death. She is survived by her three daughters, Katie of Burrton, Mrs. Anna Toews of Moundridge, Mary Loewen of Reedley, Calif., and four sons, Peter, Jacob and John all of Burrton and Henry of Long Beach, Calif. She also leaves 29 grand children, seven great grand children and one aged sister, Mrs. Katharine Dick of Burrton. Besides all these there is a host of nephews, nieces, friends and neighbors that will greatly miss her. All children were present except one Mrs. Mary Loewen.
Her life here is finished — her earthly work is done — her heavenly rest is begun. She now "rests from her labors and her works do follow her."
Funeral services were held from Burrton Mennonite church Sunday, June 22, 1930. Interment was made in Burrton cemetery. — Burton Grpahic.
