One Killed, Nine Hurt In Crash near Berne

Berne, Ind. — The collision of an auto and a van near here the morning of May 8 claimed the life of three-year-old Mickey Hodge of Monroe and injured nine other persons.

Seriously injured were the boy's mother and sister and Elmer K. Hilty, 33, of rural Geneva, one of seven men riding in the van. Several of the other men, all employed as farm builders, were hospitalized. The other passengers included Ernest A. Eicher, Ernest V. Eicher, Ben Coblentz, Amos L. Girod, and Henry H. Schwartz.
