RUDOLPH HILDEBRANDT

Rudolph Hildebrandt of Vancouver passed away on February 19. He was born on July 7, 1938 in Filadelfia, Chaco, Paraguay to Gerhard and Margaret (Fast) Hildebrandt. In his youth he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour. In 1958 the family immigrated to Vancouver. On March 19, 1961 he was baptized and joined the Vancouver Mennonite Brethren Church. On July 15, 1961 he married Helen Toews. In early October 1979 he began to experience severe pain in his back, and after several months of uncertainty, it was diagnosed as bone cancer. "Through all the suffering, the Saviour became more precious to us and our family was drawn closer to him... ' writes his wife Helen. He is survived by her; children Anita and Randy; five brothers and families: George and Agnes, Werner and Jesse, Alfred and Tina, Sieghard and Lena, and Ernie and Mary; sisters Margaret Hildebrandt and Katie and Willie Matz; and his mother. The funeral took place in the Culloden MB Church, Vancouver, on February 22, with pastor Victor Toews officiating, and Rev. Henry Classen preaching the German sermon.
