Seventeen Year Old Youth Accidentally Killed under Truck.
Inman, Kansas, July 5. — Word was received by Mr. and Mrs. P. M Schroeder last Thursday that Johnny Hildebrand, 17 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hildebrand, was accidentally killed near Dallas, Oregon.
Johnny was riding a bicycle to work and he grabbed a passing truck and as the bicycle skidded out from under him on account of loose sand in the road he managed to hang onto the truck. The truck was goin [sic] up a grade and as the driver was shifting gears the boy lost his hold and he fell under the truck and the back wheel passed over his body, being badly crushed. The accident happened about 8:30 in the morning and the boy died at 2:30 the same afternoon. Funeral services were held at Dallas last Sunday afternoon.
Johnny was a brother of Mrs. P. M. Schroeder, living southeast of Inman.
