MRS. J. R. HIEBERT

Mary (Braun) Hiebert was born to Korenelius and Katherine (Warkentin) Braun on Jan. 29, 1886, near Henderson, Neb. She was one of eight children, and in her youth experienced the hardships of pioneer life.

From Henderson she moved with her parents to Colorado, where they lived several years. then, together with several other families , they came to Kansas by covered wagons, settling east of Peabody. They resided for some years near Goessel, and eventually came to Buhler to a farm. During these years the children attended school as it was possible.

At an early age mother recognized her need of salvation, and accepted the Lord as her personal Savior. She was baptized and received into the Mennonite Brethren Church at Buhler on April 20, 1903.

On Feb 28, 1909, she was united in marriage with Jacob R. Hiebert in the Ebenezer Church. We homesteaded a farm near Hooker, Okla. After a few years we returned to Buhler, and have resided here since. On August 29, 1963, we entered the Sunshine Home. The Lord has given us more than 56 years together. Three sons and four daughters came to bless our lives of whom the oldest son, Abe, and his wife Katie preceded her in death.

She has been to us a loving wife and mother, very good-hearted and self-sacrificing to family and friends. She enjoyed God's Word, often quoting from john 14, "In my Father's house are many mansions."

Through the years she had been ill often, having been hospitalized as many as 18 times, undergoing surgery several times. On Dec. 22 she experienced severe internal hemorrhaging and was taken to Grace hospital. Her soul slipped quietly away on Dec. 23, 1966. She attained to the age of 80 years, 10 months and 24 days.

She leaves to remember her devotion: her husband; two sons, Curt of Hutchinson, and Pete and wife Nettie of Hillsboro, Kan.; four daughters, Kathryn and husband Henry Ediger of Hutchinson, Elizabeth and husband Abe Janzen of Hutchinson, Anna and husband Henry Nickel, Goessel, Kan., and Marie and husband Art Ediger, Hutchinson; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Anna Hildebrandt, Buhler, Kan.; two sisters-in-law. Mrs. Tena Braun and Mrs. Sara Braun, Buhler, Kan. — The Bereaved Family.
