● Mrs. Mary Buller Hiebert, 71, died Friday, Oct 2, at the Bethel Deaconess Hospital. She had been admitted to the hospital one week earier [sic] after becoming ill at her home in Elbing. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Zion Mennonite Church, Elbing, with Rev. Harold Graber and Rev. H. J. Dyck officiating. Mrs. Hiebert was the widow of Gus Hiebert. She is survived by a son, Leroy of Elbing; two daughters, Mrs. Pete (Lorena) Klassen of Whitewater, and Elda, who is serving as a missionary to the Congo under the Congo Inland Mission; one brother and four sisters. Mrs. Herman Ediger of Newton is a sister.

Mrs. Mary A. (Buller) Hiebert was born May 16, 1893 at Buhler, Kan. to Peter and Agatha Siemens Buller. She spent her youth on a farm near Buhler. On June 2, 1912, she was baptized upon the confession of her faith by Abraham Ratzlaff and joined the Hoffnungsau Church.

On Feb. 12, 1928, she was united in marriage with Gustav H. Hiebert. After her marriage she joined the Tabor Church. To this union were born two daughters and one son.

Our parents lived on a farm near Goessel, Kan. until 1943 when they moved to another farm near Burns. On Dec. 3, 1946, father passed away in an automobile accident. Mother with her family then moved to Elbing, where she joined the Zion Mennonite Church and was a faithful member until she was called home into the presence of her Lord.

She always looked forward to the monthly prayer meetings that were held in her home. She enjoyed her work with the Mission Friends Society and gave unselfishly of her time to piece together many quit tops.

On Sept. 26, mother became ill and was admitted to Bethel Hospital. She seemed to be improving, but she suffered a stroke and was in a coma until she passed away to be with her Lord at 4 p.m. on Oct 2. She reached the age of 71 years, four months, and 17 days.

Surviving are two daughters, Lorena (Mrs. Pete Klassen) of Whitewater, and Elda, missionary in the Cong; one son, Leroy of the home, and six grandchildren. She also leaves four sisters. Mrs. Peter Abrahams, Inman; Mrs. Dick Heidebrecht, Dallas, Ore. ; Mrs. Henry F. Schmidt, Buhler; Mrs. Herman Ediger, Newton; and one brother, Peter Buller of Buhler.

The funeral was held at the Zion Mennonite Church of Elbing with Rev. Harold Grber and Rev. H. J. Dyck officiating. The service was recorded for Elda Hiebert in the Congo. — The Family.
