FRANZ D. HIEBERT

Franz D. Hiebert was born July 19, 1891 at Hillsboro, Marion County, Kan. the first son of David D. and Marie Hiebert.

He was baptized and became a member of the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church on June 9, 1909. At the age of 21 he moved with his family to western Kansas where they lived for six years. In 1916 his family moved to the Medford, Okla. community.

On May 28, 1920 he was married to Otillia Witzkie. They resided on a farm northeast of Deer Creek, Okla. He retired from farming in 1957.

He transferred his church membership to the Deer Creek Mennonite Church on March 29, 1925. He was a member of the Medford Legion Post No. 37.

Franz, known to many friends as Frank, died March 3, 1967 at the age of 75 years, six months, and 12 days, after several years of illness.

He was preceded in death by one son, Otto, two brothers, Pete, and David. Survivors are his wife; three sons, Erwin, Franz Jr. and Daniel of Deer Creek; two daughters, Mrs. Elvina Goebel of Blackwell, and Mrs. Minnie Bransky of Deer Creek; four brothers, Bill of Dallas, ore.; two sisters, Mrs. Agnus [sic Agnes] Giesbrecht, and Mrs. Marie Balzer of Dallas, Ore.; three grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
