— Funeral services for Mrs. Jacob G. Hiebert of Walton took place on Wednesday afternoon at the Hiebert home and at the Tabor Mennonite church, with Rev. H. B. Schmidt and Rev. C. C. Wedel officiating. Mrs. Hiebert, who was 64 years of age, died last Sunday morning at her home after a lingering illness of four years. She had been bedfast for only a brief period before her passing, however. She is survived by her husband, three daughters and five sons: Albert and Frank Hiebert, and Mrs. Ted R. Schmidt of Walton; Henry Hiebert and Mrs. Willard H. Hiebert of Hillsboro; Mrs. Jacob Franz of Peabody; Jacob Hiebert of Whitewater; and Bennie Hiebert of Inman. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren.

MRS. JACOB G. HIEBERT

Mrs. Susie Goossen Hiebert, daughter of Frank and Maria Unruh Goossen, was born in Marion county, Kansas, March 7, 1882, and passed away at her home near Walton on Nov. 24, 1946, at 6:30 a. m. after an illness of four years, of which she was bedfast the last 24 hours. She reached the age of 64 years, eight months and 16 days.

She was baptized on June 3, 1900, by Elder Peter Balzer and became a member of the Alexanderwohl church, later transferring her membership to the Tabor church where she remained a faithful member until the end.

She was united in holy matrimony with Jacob G. Hiebert on Dec. 11, 1904, and they shared joys and sorrows together for 41 years, 11 months, and 12 days. To this union 10 children were born, of whom Lydia and Arthur died in infancy.

She leaves to mourn her departure her husband and the following eight children: Albert, Mrs. Jacob S. (Mary) Franz, Frank, Jacob, Mrs. Ted R. (Agnes) Schmidt, Henry, Mrs. Wilhard (Edna) Hiebert, and Bennie. She also leaves three sons-in-law and five daughters-in-law, 19 grandchildren, eight step-grand-children, six sisters, Mrs. Maria Schmidt, Mrs. Eva Flaming, Mrs. Justine Flaming, Mrs. Lena Buller, Mrs. Anna Koehn, and Sarah Goossen, and a brother-in-law, Henry Ediger. Two sisters, Tina Goossen and Mrs. Elizabeth Ediger, one brother, Frank Goossen, a brother-in-law, Jacob A. Flaming, and four grandchildren preceded her in death.

She was a kind and devoted mother. She loved her church, and her Bible was a great comfort to her in the days of her illness. She loved her Sunday School class and was present whenever her health would permit. Her grandchildren especially were a joy to her and she was deeply concerned about the welfare of her family. She is sweetly resting now from a journey mixed with sunshine and sorrows. Oh may we be ready to meet her when the roll is called at Heaven's pearly gates.

Funeral services were held in the Tabor church on Wednesday, Nov. 27, at 2:00 p. m., conducted by Rev. H. B. Schmidt, Rev. C. C. Wedel, and Rev. C. F. Friesen. "Trusting Jesus, That Is All," the beloved hymn of the departed one, was sung by John, Sam, Dan and Arnold Guhr. Other appropriate hymns were sung by a quartet composed by Jake Flaming, Milton and John Reimer, and Alfred Schmidt. Pallbearers were nephews of the departed, Ferd Goossen, Henry M. Schmidt, Sam Flaming, John G. Flaming, Alvin Buller, and Frank Koehn. She was laid to rest in the Tabor cemetery.
