— Mrs. Sarah Hiebert, 79, wife of Peter H. Hiebert and a lifelong resident of the Goessel community, died Tuesday at the Bethesda hospital there. She and her husband lived on a farm near Goessel until about three years ago when they entered the Bethesda home for aged. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Tabor Mennonite church, with Rev. James Waltner and Rev. P. A. Wedel officiating. Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Mrs. Irwin Schultz of Newton; two sons, Herman of Wallace, Idaho and Gustav of McPherson; one brother, Henry Schmidt, and one sister, Mrs. Agnes Gay, both of Newton; and four grandchildren.

MRS. SARA HIEBERT

Mrs. Sara Schmidt Hiebert, the daughter of Heinrich and Maria Voth Schmidt, was born at Gruenfeld near Goessel, Kansas on Jan. 14, 1880. She departed this life at Goessel, Kansas on Nov. 3, 1959. She attained the age of 79 years.

On May 29, 1898 she was baptized by Elder Balzer and accepted into the membership of the Alexanderwohl Mennonite church. When in the year 1908 the Tabor church was organized she became a charter member of this congregation where she remained a member until her death.

March 6, 1914 she entered into holy matrimony with Peter H. Hiebert. Into this union six children were born, three daughters and three sons, of which two daughters and one son passed away in infancy.

Her life was spent on a farm east of Goessel until three years ago when she and her husband moved to the Bethesda Home in Goessel. She suffered ill health during the last years, being an invalid during her stay at the Bethesda Home.

She is survived by her husband; three children, Elvina (Mrs. Irwin Schultz) of Newton Herman of Wallace, Idaho, and Gustav of McPherson, Kansas; four grandchildren; one son-in-law, one daughter-in law; one brother, Henry Schmidt of Newton; and one sister, Mrs. Agnes Gay of Newton. Five sisters s\preceded her in death.

Funeral services were conducted Nov. 6 in the Tabor Mennonite church with Rev. James Waltner and Rev. P. A. Wedel officiating.
