Burns Are Fatal To John M. Hiebert of Mount. Lake, Minn.

Mt. Lake, Minn. — A tremendous explosion, followed by a raging fire, demolished the super service station of the Hiebert Oil co. at 5:43 p.m. Saturday, May 16. The cause of the explosion was not determined definitely.

John M. Hiebert, who with his brother Nick Hiebert, owned the station, was in the basement of the building at the time of the blast and was seriously injured. Mr. Hiebert barely escaped from the building, being helped through the east basement window by Harry Paskey, Corn. D. Stoesz, and Mrs. John Hiebert. He was placed in A. P. Dick's car and rushed to the Clinic hospital.

Mr. Hiebert passed away at the Clinic hospital at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday as a result of injuries and burns suffered in the explosion of his oil station last Saturday evening.

Death came after several days of suffering. His arms and face were severely burned and the shock and concussion of the explosion contributed to his injuries. He maintained consciousness until the end even though suffering intense pain.

Mr. Hiebert is survived by his wife, Marie; two small sons, Kenneth and Harvey, his mother, Mrs. John C. Hebert, his brother, Nick, and two sisters, Helen, and Mrs. George P. Neufeld.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Saturday in the Bethel church. — Mt. Lake Observer.
